We recognize that when a scholar is applying for college, high school performance will be one of the main factors in the admission decision. Admissions officers are interested in seeing that the scholar was challenged within the secondary school environment. Colleges pay close attention to curriculum rigor, grades earned and the work accomplished. Our philosophy is grounded in this reality, and our educational program is designed to ensure scholars have the skill set and transcript that will open up doors of opportunity.
All scholars engage in a full college preparatory program. Scholars dramatically exceed New York credit hour requirements to graduate, have an extensive focus on writing and composition to complement literature courses, and are on track to complete a full-year course in calculus prior to graduation. Scholars graduate with the knowledge to gain access to and excel in competitive colleges and the ever-changing workplace.
Regina Sheeran is the College and Career Readiness Coordinator here at Summit. She is very excited to be joining the Summit staff this year. She works closely with Mr. Apestegui and Mr. Bartley to ensure that each student at Summit is being exposed to College and Career Readiness practices. Alongside Mr. Bartley, she teaches college prep to every 9th through 12th grade scholar. In addition to college prep, she will be a resource for all college and career related information for both you and your scholar this year.
For 11th and 12th grade parents and scholars, she will be here to assist with college applications, scholarship opportunities, filling out FAFSA and other financial aid documents, and other college and future related options for students.
