Principal

Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

  • Provide exemplary leadership to all school community members to achieve outstanding performance in preparing each student for trade schools and college;
  • Demonstrate a relentless commitment to improve the whole child. 
  • Develop and communicate strategic school systems that center on culture and vision, and can build a plan to achieve that vision;
  • Implement effective assessment systems and use data to inform decisions;
  • Lead all curriculum development and assessment aspects and ensure consistency within the school program and alignment with state and other rigorous standards.

Teacher Coaching & Evaluation

  • Conduct daily teacher observations and provide real-time feedback that focuses on student achievement;
  • Oversee faculty and staff, including recruitment, evaluation, retention, and dismissal, and hold primary responsibility for professional development, staff observations, curriculum development, staff communication, and some program decisions;
  • Lead faculty to ensure that all staff are providing well-managed and rigorous daily lessons, reasonable and practical daily homework, and regular and productive small group instruction based on the needs identified by multiple modalities of teacher assessment;
  • Foster commitment among staff to the development and fulfillment of the school's mission and objectives;
  • Hold teachers accountable for meeting a high bar for student performance, including requirements for ENL, special education accommodations, and IEP modifications in partnership with the Assistant Principal of Learning Supports (Special Education).

School Culture

  • Build a joyful and rigorous school culture;
  • Foster consistency in academic and behavioral expectations;
  • Collaborate with school staff to support student's academic and socio-emotional development;
  • Ensure that traditions and rituals that support the school's college mission are built and maintained, grade by grade, year to year;
  • Support staff to ensure the development and implementation of effective after-school enrichment programs.

Family Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with families, ensuring they are kept involved with and held accountable for their children's performance, and correspond about school policies, trips, and events;
  • Respond to family concerns promptly and effectively.

Teacher Vacancies: MS & HS Math; MS ELA, MS & HS SPED

Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lesson plans and supplementary materials to teach specific subjects.
  • Classroom management: Create and enforce clear rules and routines to establish a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.
  • Assessment: Create, assign, and grade assessments like tests, quizzes, and projects to evaluate student understanding and progress.
  • Student support: Provide one-on-one assistance, modify materials to accommodate diverse needs, and encourage students to explore learning opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Work with colleagues to develop educational programs and share teaching insights, and communicate with parents to support student growth.
  • Technology integration: Use technology to enhance learning experiences and create technology-based learning materials. 

Qualifications

  • Drive to improve the minds and lives of scholars in and out of the classroom;
  • Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom;
  • Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects;
  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred; and
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred, but not required.
  • Valid State Certification is helpful but not required. 
  • Belief in and alignment with SACS core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.

ENL Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English that meet state and federal standards
  • Provide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with the school’s instructional program so as to ensure that students meet and exceed learning targets
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies
  • Address all aspects of communication through appropriate instruction that develops each student’s ability to read, write, speak, and listen in the appropriate content area
  • Administer academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student progress for meeting academic learning targets and progress in language acquisition
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progress
  • Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies
  • Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction as to meet the needs of individual students and subgroups of students
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior required to run an orderly and productive classroom environment
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students
  • Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
  • Oversee assigned out-of-classroom activities during the school day, as needed
