Introduction to Esports

Academy Charter School is proud to be at the forefront of innovation with our state-of-the-art Esports Lab, created through the vision of Summit’s Leadership Team in partnership with the Center for Educational Innovation’s Esports initiative. More than just a gaming space, our fully equipped lab serves as a hub where students explore the rapidly growing world of gaming, develop teamwork and problem-solving skills, and experience the excitement of competitive Esports.

Through Summit’s Esports program, scholars can:

  • Earn elective credits toward graduation by engaging in structured Esports coursework.

  • Join competitive teams and represent Summit in local and citywide tournaments.

  • Participate in after-school sessions for fun, connection, and personal growth.

  • Explore future pathways, from pursuing degrees in Game Design and digital media to competing in professional-level Esports.

Our teams currently compete in popular titles such as NBA 2K, FIFA, and Super Smash Bros., with our NBA 2K team showcasing their skills at premier venues like the Microsoft Center and Samsung Center in NYC.

Esports at Summit is more than a game—it’s an opportunity. By blending academics, technology, and competition, we prepare students for emerging careers while fostering confidence, leadership, and community.
