About Summit Academy
Introduction to Athletics
At Summit Academy, we believe a healthy life includes physical activity. The Summit Academy Athletic Program competes at the highest level while emphasizing the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and individual growth. The program offers a wide array of sports; scholars are encouraged to make selections based on their abilities and interests. Summit Academy's athletic program sponsors more than nine teams for grades six through twelve.
In order for scholars to be eligible for competition in our athletics program, they need to demonstrate a high level of character and integrity. This includes no in- or out-of-school suspensions during the academic year. They must also maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA. If at any point a scholar athlete’s GPA drops below the minimum level, they are ineligible to compete until they have raised their GPA to 2.5 or higher. Summit Academy’s Athletics Program has included boys’ and girls’ junior varsity and varsity Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, and Flag Football.
Summit Academy, along with all schools with competitive athletics programs, spent the past two academic years working to keep star athletes relevant, given the shortened seasons. Despite having the basketball season abruptly interrupted by the pandemic, the Summit Academy athletics team was able to leverage their success in the PSAL and presence in the basketball circuit to ensure that all eight of the seniors on the Ladies Varsity Basketball Team earned spots on elite basketball teams, including 3 Division I players. The school touts eight (8) Division I scholarships for basketball.
